Draft and live: how publishing works
1 min · 3 steps
Short answer
Every change you make in the studio is saved as a draft that only you see. Visitors keep seeing the previous version until you click the green Publish changes button at the top right.
1Edit as much as you like
Text, photos, menu, colors and AI changes are all saved to your draft as you go. Nothing reaches your visitors yet, so you can try things safely.
2Preview your draft
The preview in the studio shows the draft. To see it full-screen in a new tab, click Open (the arrow icon at the top right) while you have unpublished edits.
Open shows your draft in a new tab; the status chip shows whether the site is live. 3Publish to put it live
Everything you change is saved as a draft first, so visitors keep seeing the previous version while you work. When you're happy, click the green Publish changes button at the top right (it says Go live the very first time). The message Your changes are live confirms it.
The green button only appears while you have unpublished changes.
Good to know
- The status chip next to the button shows Live, Private, Offline or Draft. Click it to see why, to switch Publicly accessible, or to connect your domain.
- Restoring an earlier version or a backup also creates a draft. Publish afterwards to put it live.
