How to change text on your website

Short answer

Open your site in the studio, click Visual edits at the top, click the text you want to change and type. Click Save, then Publish changes. Typing your own text is free and never uses AI edits.

  1. 1Open the studio

    Go to Projects and click Open studio on your site's card (or click its picture). The studio opens with the AI chat on the left and your site on the right.

  2. 2Turn on Visual edits

    Click Visual edits in the middle of the top bar. A hint appears over the page: Visual edit on — click any text or photo on the page to edit it.

  3. 3Click the text and type

    Click a heading, paragraph or button on the page and type your new text. Press Enter to finish a heading or button, or Esc to cancel.

    A small toolbar appears above the text for bold, italic, alignment and color. Its AI menu can rewrite the text for you (Improve writing, Make it shorter, Fix spelling & grammar and more); that part uses your AI-edit allowance.

    Click the text on the page. The formatting bar appears above it.

  4. 4Save your edits

    Your edits collect in a strip at the top of the chat: 2 inline edits pending. Click Save to keep them (or Discard to throw them away). Then click Visual edits again to leave edit mode.

    Pending edits wait at the top of the chat until you save them.

  5. 5Publish to put it live

    Everything you change is saved as a draft first, so visitors keep seeing the previous version while you work. When you're happy, click the green Publish changes button at the top right (it says Go live the very first time). The message Your changes are live confirms it.

    The green button only appears while you have unpublished changes.

Good to know

  • You can click headings, paragraphs and buttons. Text in lists, tables, the menu and the footer can't be clicked: change menu names in Brand & Navigation, and ask the AI chat for the rest.
  • Save before you switch pages or turn Visual edits off, or the unsaved edits are lost.
  • On a phone, Visual edits isn't available. Use the AI chat instead, or edit on a computer or tablet.
